Charles Manson: The Final Words, Sunday, Dec. 3

Thursday, November 30th, 2017

Nov. 30Charles Manson: The Final Words will premiere on the REELZ channel, Sunday at 9pm ET. The new documentary, narrated by musician/director Rob Zombie, features exclusive phone interviews with Manson, recorded over the course of the last year. As well as new interviews with Bobby Beausoleil, Catherine Gillies, Steven Kay, Gary Fleischman, George Stimson, Brian Davis, Daniel Simone, Sharmagne Leland-St. John, Michael Channels, Grey Wolf, Phil Kaufman and Rich Pfeiffer.

The Final Words is not your typical Manson documentary. It is not just a departure from the familiar Helter Skelter narrative. At times throughout the presentation, it seems as though the Helter Skelter narrative, not Charles Manson, is on trial. The film successfully exposes weaknesses in the state’s case and highlights theories that traditionally get overlooked by similar productions.

It’s one of the more interesting and unique productions to come out in recent years. It’s not exactly objective. It omits strengths in the state’s case and overlooks weaknesses in the alternative theories. It’s tough on Stephen Kay and soft of Bobby Beausoleil. But nonetheless, a documentary like this has been long overdue and will interest both the casual observer, as well as people deeply invested in the case.

Directed by Buddy Day and produced by Pyramid Productions, Charles Manson: The Final Words was recently awarded the 2017 Audience Award Documentary Feature at the Red Rock Film Festival and Best Dramatic Documentary at Atlanta Docufest 2017 and is an Official Selection at CUFF.Docs 2017, the Calgary Underground Film Festival.

Interesting to hear Manson on tape. Otherwise, the show seemed to re-hash same ole same ole. I think there were multiple motives for the murders. Manson used Helter Skelter as a means to manipulate followers (Manson may have also believed on it himself) but truth is murders were committed for much simpler motives of self preservation and revenge by Manson.

  2. Bowie says:

Disappointing that neither man involved in this case know how to pronounce Bugliosi’s name.

  3. Louis says:

“same ole same ole” ?? Seems you didn’t hear what BD was saying…

  4. Mike Hatten says:

I don’t have the Reelz channel. Does anybody know where else I can watch this?

  5. Paul Budil says:

Funny how all these crackpots come out of the woodwork to debunk Bugliosi’s after he dies

  6. Richard O'Rourke says:

Funny how people can be so willfully ignorant as to still believe exclusively in the helter skelter motive. Said ‘crackpots’ never had a real forum until now. When ‘The Bug’ and other establishment apologist whores were alive all we got was one side of the story when it came to the major media. Now the chinks are showing in their censorship by indifference and disregard. Too bad it took so long for a contrarian theory( to be allowed) to see the light of day, but that’s life here in good old ‘Muhrica’ where we are allowed to believe anything but to know nothing!! Bravo to Mr. Day and crew for daring to present another side to this most intriguing of cases.
