4 Sentenced in Tate Case
Friday, April 16th, 1971
LOS ANGELES, Apr. 16 — Four members of Charles Manson’s clan have been sentenced to 90 days in jail for trying to keep a witness from testifying in Sharon Tate murder trial by giving her a hamburger laced with LSD.
The four, who appeared in Superior Court Friday, are Catherine “Gypsy” Share, 27; Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme 21; Steve Grogan, 19, and Dennis Rice, 29.
All had pleaded no contest after conspiracy charges against them had been reduced from felonies to misdemeanors.
The prosecution contended the group lured family member Barbara Hoyt, 19, to Honolulu before she was to testify, then fed her a hamburger containing LSD. She was hospitalized but recovered, returned to the mainland and testified for the state.
